The Beginning of Snooties BBQ
Snooties was founded in June 2009 by Dennis Studer, a skilled brick and stone mason with a passion for great food. With the help of Beth Smith, Joe Hire, Janet Studer, and many supportive friends and family members, Snooties got its start by setting up at fruit markets, gas stations, and as many festivals as possible. It was a humble beginning—but a strong one.
Passing the Torch
In September 2010, Snooties lost its founding pitmaster. Dennis’s daughter, Janet Studer, and her husband, Joe Hire, took over the business and continue to run it to this day.
Remembering Dennis Studer
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Dennis, chances are you left well-fed and smiling. He was a fun-loving, people-first kind of guy who truly enjoyed connecting with others. We are forever grateful to him for turning a dream into a reality, and we couldn’t be prouder to continue building on the legacy he left behind.
A Change in Plans
Dennis once planned to retire with Snooties in Florida, but Joe and Janet had a different vision—building a small restaurant in Ohio. Although they enjoyed a few years of snowbirding in Tampa, they ultimately chose to stay up north and focus on their long-term dream.
Our Current Home
Since 2021, Snooties has been located at 7312 Portland Road, where our food truck sets up seasonally while plans for our restaurant are underway.
What Makes Snooties Special
We love what we do—and you can see and taste that passion in our food every day. Our BBQ sauce is homemade and perfected by the original four. We also craft our own meat rubs and sides. With just the right seasoning and a kiss of hickory smoke, our food leaves customers saying, “Wow!”—and we don’t blame them.
Come Hungry. Leave Happy.
Snooties is for everyone. If you’re hungry, Snooties is the spot!
